Video: Chuck Norris and NRA Want You to Vote

Looks like the right wing is finally starting to figure this internet thing out. This Trigger the Vote ad by the NRA is laugh out loud funny. If the left constantly says 60% of the voters are stupid rednecks, well…then just go with it. And anytime you add in Chuck Norris you’re good to go.

President Kickass Pulls a George W

The unpredictable, gun totin’ cowboy – I saw the same thing as Obama recently expressed in an interview – that caused the media and Will Ferrell to go bazonkers during the prior 8 years.

Updated – This clip has now been Auto-tuned. Heh.

Fair enough, but a) would they give Obama the same treatment and b) Obama doesn’t talk too tough about the folks perpetrating “man made disasters” (or as we refer to it ‘terrorism’) or bring that “can kick” spirit to attacking the skyrocketing deficit.

Well I stand corrected as Jon Stewart (who has become a relatively equal offender of Republicans and Democrats compared to other comedians) blasts Obama and even uses the George W. Bush voice to do it. FTW

Hippies Rejoice. Watergate Reboot Arrives!

Updated: I feel dumb saying the White House offered someone a job in return for dropping out of a race. It was actually 3 jobs (Politico).

Whether it’s re-imagining 70′s TV shows and movies, America in 2010 loves a good remake (or a bad one). And the Obama administration delivers. The self-proclaimed “most ethical” and “transparent” administration ever seems to have a growing stack of bribery, corruption, and flat-out lies stacking up against them. Not just all the little stuff we assume is going on, but actual ones that are being outed.

Much like Watergate, the cover-up here is worse than the crime. This is just politics as usual (from those who ran on ending that)…waving power and positions in front of government officials to strategically swing an election. Much like Watergate, it’s also a “high crime and misdemeanor.” So flower-children of the 60′s, get ready to bring out the old tie-dye again..it’s protest time! Oh wait, you run the government now.

If you haven’t been keeping up, or you get all your news from MSNBC, there’s been yet another admission of bribery to get a candidate to not run in a primary.

You may have heard of the Joe Sestak case, which weirdly ended in them saying Bill Clinton offered a non-paying low-level post to get out of the PA primary race (which is a possibly true story if it … no it makes no sense at all) but now we have our transparent administration offering Colorado’s Romanoff to not run against Bennet.

Why would they do this? Aside from wanting to swing elections by ensuring their chosen candidate gets in, those who make it to office through backhand deals have a lot of favors to return (not that I’m saying Arlen Specter switched parties with nothing in return..no). > AP News Story on Romanoff Offer

Fortunately, if Obama is good at strong arming and Chicago-style deal making, he’s also good at the PR machine. …. uhh.. at least he was.

Actual Headlines From the AZ Immigration Law Coverage

Whatever your feelings on the new Arizona law, the media and left wing is so in a frenzy about it that they’ve become incoherent (more than normal). These are all actual headlines from the past few days regarding the new, tough law that Arizona has passed to deal with their illegal immigration epidemic. I get the strange feeling that the humor is lost on them.

The illegal immigration problem, by the way, that has Arizona as the 2nd highest violent kidnapping rate in the entire world. Second only to…Mexico. More than one a day on average, in Phoenix alone.

Here are the headlines from this week. Yes, these are real and they’re fantastic.

  • Confused protesters boycott NY-based AriZona Iced Tea (National Post)
  • Law Makes it a Crime to be Illegal Immigrant (MSNBC)
  • Illegal immigrants plan to leave over Ariz. law. (Associated Press)
  • Why Mexico opposes the Arizona immigration law (CS Monitor)

IMG – Joe Biden and My Attempt at Gallows Humor

I don’t even think people really care anymore what they do or say. It’s apparent I don’t. Let me loose with PowerPoint for 35 seconds and this is what happens. Though he did a nice job keeping a straight face, either Obama was thinking nothing since he is used to it now, or he was as giddy as a school girl as well.

Weekly Reader

A pair of interesting articles today I am reposting because they made me think in a different way about some issues that are important, but over-discussed. Basically I thought there was nothing new under the sun when it came to editorials on ObamaCare and evolution….perhaps not.

If You Think ObamaCare’s Bad Now, Wait Until You Have to Live With It.

The first is on the hot debate of the week, ObamaCare. Aside from the mind blowing corruption that has officially worn America’s patience for big, bloated, and unresponsive government, the big news is that it’s probably going to pass.

And forgetting about all the details, costs, regulations, and shadiness of it, it is often said that just like Social Security or Medicare, people will eventually be for it, even though they’re bankrupt. So is ObamaCare the same? I always argued that I’m not for those programs either, at least not when 33 trillion of it is unfunded and it’s about to crash.

But the article “Why ObamaCare would Fail” (aside from showing life under ObamaCare won’t be too great) says that, in fact, it’s nothing like Social Security. And I have to say I hadn’t identified this gigantic difference…

While it’s true that Social Security and Medicare have remained popular even as the programs threaten to bankrupt the country, they are different from Obamacare because at least conceptually, everybody pays into them and everybody receives benefits.

Yet Obamacare would be a welfare program in which one segment of the country receives benefits, while others have their coverage disrupted, and are punished with higher taxes, longer wait times, and poorer quality of care. - Full article

Why Everything You’ve Been Told About Evolution is Wrong

This article just kept me enthralled. One of the few things that discusses evolution in the same ways I think about it.

It claims that evolutionary thinking is going through a revolution. Completely changing everything we think we understand.

Not a day goes by where they haven’t identified a gene or the evolutionary reason for every action and feeling we have. The end result, is really we don’t have free will….a pretty major bummer, but it’s the only take you’ll find, even though something inside you knows it makes no sense. Even if you believe in evolution.

Here’s some great excerpts.

For much of the late Noughties, a week never seemed to pass without one new book or news story attributing some facet of modern-day life to the evolutionary past: men were more prone to sexual jealousy than women because a woman who conceives becomes unavailable for imminent future acts of reproduction; men preferred women with waist-to-hip ratios of 0.7 because of natural selection.

It explained music and art and why we reward senior executives with top-floor corner offices (because we evolved to want a clear view of our enemies approaching across the savannah).

Take, to begin with, the Swedish chickens. Three years ago, researchers led by a professor at the university of Linköping in Sweden created a henhouse that was specially designed to make its chicken occupants feel stressed. The lighting was manipulated to make the rhythms of night and day unpredictable, so the chickens lost track of when to eat or roost. Unsurprisingly, perhaps, they showed a significant decrease in their ability to learn how to find food hidden in a maze.

The surprising part is what happened next: the chickens were moved back to a non-stressful environment, where they conceived and hatched chicks who were raised without stress – and yet these chicks, too, demonstrated unexpectedly poor skills at finding food in a maze. They appeared to have inherited a problem that had been induced in their mothers through the environment.

The epigenome plays a crucial role in determining which genes actually express themselves in a creature’s traits: in effect, it switches certain genes on or off, or turns them up or down in intensity. It isn’t news that the environment can alter the epigenome; what’s news is that those changes can be inherited. And this doesn’t, of course, apply only to chickens: some of the most striking findings come from research involving humans.

—————————————-

A single period of extreme overeating in the midst of the usual short supply, researchers found, could cause a man’s grandsons to die an average of 32 years earlier than if his childhood food intake had been steadier. Your own eating patterns, this implies, may affect your grandchildren’s lifespans, years before your grandchildren – or even your children.

Darwin, writing before the discovery of DNA, knew very well that his work heralded the beginning of a journey to understand the origins and development of life. All we may be discovering now is that we remain closer to the beginning of that journey than we’ve come to think.

Will Obama Restore Science to Its Rightful Place?

As the story goes, after 8 head-in-the-sand years of the Bush Administration, the big business and psuedo religious belief system of the past would not live to see another day in the new Obama administration. Obama vowed to “restore science to its rightful place” which basically meant we’d be harvesting stem cells and end the debate on global warming.

But science and politics have a tricky little relationship, as trusted “scientific data” brings big bucks, and hiding other scientific data keeps big bucks from being lost. Government and the laboratory can be just as destructive as the left’s hated military-industrial complex. In my opinion, the “rightful place” of science, regardless of what it is, would be as far from the government as possible.

After months of Climate Gate revelations showing the exact type of manipulation and censorship that Obama railed against, you’d think that this newfound love of science, which would mean believing what the data showed regardless of your personal thoughts, would be affecting the economy busting cap and trade bill and a host of other policies set to take over our lives to save the planet.

Not so, you sillies.

In fact, the most startling revelation of them all came this weekend, where the crucial scientist whose data was at the center of the global warming debate says that there hasn’t been any warming since 1995 and that it was not due to man. If you wanted to double check that, not so much luck since he seems to have lost the papers on it.

Huh? I can almost see Al Gore yelling “Well, hockey sticks!!”

This has now been reported by most of the world media besides MSNBC. India has dropped out of the IPCC and is forming their own panel, supposedly to do actual scientific reviews of data. The best stories have come from the British press, including the BBC.

It’s a long convoluted chain of events and meanings. Data that was supposed to tell the world that government control, more taxes, and lowering of lifestyle to save the planet came from false data, made up data, college kids’ term papers as sources, an Al Gore powerpoint, and the movie The Day After Tomorrow.

As scientific theory goes, the debate can’t be over, even if your government says it is. If science is to be returned to its rightful place, than its best the government withdraws their climate change legislation and gets their hands out of the back pockets of the Big Global Warming industry and the science community.

I do see the temperature rising quickly soon…but it’s going to be isolated in Washington, DC.

No matter what state you are in, you likely questioned the whole thing this weekend (snow in all 49 states minus Hawaii) which is why the US media quickly said the snowstorm is because of global warming as well.

Awkward below. From that right wing machine Fox News..I mean the BBC.

A Day of Epic Fail for the Democrats

The amount of bad news for Democrats today is overwhelming. Having this many negative stories come out in a month would be bad enough, but the cracks have turned to shatters in the liberal dream now that their risky strategy is falling apart. It’s the same thing the Republicans did and it happens every time a party tries to form a permanent majority.

rahm emanuel

The strategy was simple..and quite brilliant in a political sense. Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s right hand, won the first stage of power, the Congress, by choosing candidates who would win, not necessarily pure liberals. Obama’s second stage was to run on a platform of change, transparency, and stay vague. George W. was a sitting duck and the Republican chosen to run against him was indeed Bush II (err.. III).

And the final stage was once they had supermajorities and full control of the government, ram through all their real ideas and no one could stop them. Build a big government and bring everyone into it by handing out money to a desperate, recession ridden country. Once built, almost impossible to undo. And you control the power structure that watches the ballot boxes. Unfortunately his party is split now between those onboard and those needing to get reelected.

Here is today’s news. In my many years of keeping up extensively with current events, I’ve not seen anything like it honestly. All of this was published today.

obama jay leno special olympics

* After President Obama had to apologize to handicapped kids for his description of his bowling “like the Special Olympics” on Leno, Rahm Emanuel called those in his own party who don’t go along “f***ng retarded.” And it wasn’t the f part that was offensive. He phoned in a call to the Special Olympics and they said nope. He then went in person to apologize and today they said “thanks, but apology not accepted.”

* When they weren’t hiding the global warming decline, they were cooking the books on just how bad unemployment and the recession is to save face since we did spend a trillion to fix that problem. Today it was revealed that the numbers will be slightly adjusted..to the tune of nearing a million more unemployed than they estimated. My theory on how that happened is just a conspiracy.

obama media love

* Today Obama said the problem isn’t him, it’s that we spend too much time worrying about what they’re doing. We need to stop looking at blogs and watching the news. Seriously, he said that. Video of the remarks and oddly MSNBC cutting away after he tells people to stop watching them too. (Hot Air.)

* A new report on our national security shows that Obama’s new and fresh take on terrorism and hostile regimes is working as well as everyone but him thought it would. Should be seeing a terrorist attack in the US before summer.

obama football face

* Super Bowl ads are pretty expensive, unless you’re the government. Using some of daddy’s (read China’s) allowance money, you’ll get to see a $2.5 million dollar ad about participating in the Census during the Super Bowl. If you think that’s a lot of money, you haven’t been paying attention.

* But now if YOU want to waste your money on something like Vegas, Obama has some words for you. This being the second time that recession-ridden Vegas has been slammed by Obama, the mayor finally said “screw you.” More specifically that Obama’s “not welcome here.” I’ve never seen an administration flat out scold people and tell them how to lives beyond all the laws that force you to. Except that wasn’t the end of it today…

* You have been instructed by the DOT Secretary not to drive your Toyota. Just kidding he misspoke. The government owns competitor General Motors. So General Motors just told you not to drive your Toyota until you get it repaired.

*5 or so stories on further fraud, lying and hiding on Global Warming at the highest levels that’s not news anymore, but having this former believer/alarmist say he’s defeated by all this corruption and manipulation is news.

* Why is the IRS buying Shotguns????? It’s April 15 kids, lock the doors.

And the fallout of all of this is..

* The Democrats blasting and questioning  Obama are oddly the ones who are teetering on defeat. But…wouldn’t they want the popular, articulate president on their side come election time?

* Now News.. Republicans lead by 12 points for a Senate seat. News.. it’s Obama’s seat in Illinois.

That’s just today’s news. No one has enough time to read even the past week’s news of everything else that has been happening. Hope and change is in the clouds, the rest of us will be stuck with the reality down here. Or as Obama puts it “to clean up the mess.”

Racism, Straight Up?

You thought the tea party was a bunch of redneck racists? (No?  well they did).

In the new book Game Change (which sneaked this weekend, lands this week, and will take over the news this week and probably more) behind the scenes revelations from the 2008 election show a less tolerant and more…er…”back of the bus” type Democrat party.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described in private then-Sen. Barack Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” (from Yahoo news)

I didn’t mean Strom Thurmond on that one. So fortunately, Harry Reid found a candidate who didn’t really look or talk black..unless he needed to. Apparently that was a good thing for some reason? I can’t imagine what he was trying to say. I mean he’s not a Republican.

Idle gossip with unfounded accusations of racism you say? You would imagine Reid would say so, but instead he apologized mere hours after the story broke. Obama accepted his apology, and for good measure so did Al Sharpton (who does more accepting apologies for prejudice than giving them). All before the evening was barely beginning.

Not the first time the past two months Reid has introduced his foot to his mouth.

In the early leaks of the same book….the first black president, Bill Clinton, had some oddly…Uncle Tom-ish things to say about Obama as well. (from HotAir)

[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Bill’s handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.
He couldn’t possibly be (wink-wink) implying what it sounds like he’s implying? Perhaps not…Vague, possibly racial statements shouldn’t be assumed to actually be racism unless Trent Lott says them.

And we know what Obama has to say about those Trent Lott types.

The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”

I have a good feeling this is just the beginning of news related to this book. Don’t worry, neither Republicans nor Democrats will be safe.

Updated - SNL had an uncanny sense of foresight and had a skit last night that’s right up Harry Reid’s alley.

Updated – RNC Chair Michael Steele comments on Reid’s statements.
