We Know What The Media Tells Us To Know.
Not as disturing as it should be, since my prediction on the election was basically that Obama would win because people know very little about what’s going on accept what Obama told them and told them he would give them.
The extent to which people are robots to the what the media told them is a bit startling. Almost 1984-esque. How will anyone rage against the establishment when they only get their information from the establishment? Isn’t the counterculture supposed to question authority? Isn’t that what academia has taught us all along?
Either that or there’s just a lot of intellectually lazy people. But oddly, they didn’t know anything about things Obama or Biden said, but had startlingly high correct answers on things Palin said.
“How Obama Got Elected” did a national survey and interviewed people and show this theory in startling detail. No wonder Obama told people not to listen to Fox News…and they did listen without question.
Survey Results:
The poll surveyed over 500 self-professed Obama voters and has an MOE of 4.4%, with 55% having a college degree and over 90% having a high-school diploma. It asked 12 multiple-choice questions; only 2.4% got at least 11 correct. Only .5% got all them correct.
- 57.4 could NOT correctly say which party controls congress
- 81.8 could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism
- 82.6 could NOT correctly say that Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot
- 88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket
- 56.1 % could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground
Amazingly, they did know certain negative facts about the candidates…
- Only 13.7% failed to identify Palin as the person their party spent $150,000 in clothes on
- Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter
- And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that.

SNL Introduces George Bush to Sarah Palin
This SNL skit’s fairly funny….but I’ll take Will Ferrell as George W. Bush even when he’s having an off one. Writing’s kind of weak, but Will Ferell never did have much to work with. The Sarah Palin lines are getting kind of stale, but seeing George Bush play off her works well. Check it out.
Zo, the Black Republican Strikes Again…
Out of everything I’ve watched the past year, this guys is consistently the most entertaining, and dead on in his political analysis. Below is his latest “freestyle” tirade.
The irony is, as an african-american republican, I doubt he gets much love from the party of free-thinking and diverse ideas on the left side. This one’s fast and furious, and definitely worth your 5 minutes.
US Desperately in Need of a President, but I Don’t See Any
This guy somehow wrote a column that word-for-word explains my thoughts on this presidential race, the state of the country, and the candidates. I think it’s a must read, and then more importantly we need to do something about it.
Excerpts:
McCain and Obama seem to have cut a secret pact to duck any honest discussion of what the financial crisis means and how they would guide the nation through it. Even more infuriating, they’re getting away with it.
Call it what it is – fraud.
Just as investors bought subprime securities marketed as AAA, we’re being asked to pick a President without knowing the truth behind the talking points. Transparency is at least as necessary in the White House as on Wall Street.
Part of the blame belongs to the debate moderators, who have been too gentle. Wednesday’s maestro, Bob Schieffer of CBS News, tried to get the candidates to address how the crisis would force them to change plans, but they swatted him away and he didn’t persist.
