Mark Millar Pitches Superman Godfather-style

As a lifelong Superman fan (from Superman underwear at 4 years old to Smallville still today..but now preferring Superman boxer briefs) I’m very keen on the latest Superman movie news. The Superman/Superman II movies were terrific, and we haven’t seen anything good on the big screen since.

Especially with the terrific Marvel movies (Spiderman, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk) there’s no reason why we should’ve gotten Superman Returns as the best effort. As reported recently, they’re rebooting the franchise, and Mark Millar is pushing for his ideas to be the storyline.

Millar recently revealed his ideas, and they’re Godfather-esque, in an upcoming interview. In it, he says:

“The problem with Superman Returns was like releasing Star Wars in ’77, The Empire Strikes Back in ’80 and then waiting 28 years to release Return of the Jedi, it wasn’t relevant. I understand what Bryan Singer was trying to do, to pay homage to Richard Donner’s original vision, but I think you should pay homage by doing something completely different.”

“I want to start on Krypton, a thousand years ago, and end with Superman alone on Planet Earth, the last being left on the planet, as the yellow sun turns red and starts to supernova, and he loses his powers.”

Superman fans should check out the rest of the interview here:
