A few quick movie reviews, haven’t seen much lately, but for what they’re worth if you’re looking for a theater trip or rental..

Paranormal Activity – * * * stars out of four

A pretty decent flick, somewhat tense (moreso for many people that are more easily scared) and everything the Blair Witch Project wanted to be but wasn’t.

Saw VI – * * stars out of four

About the same as the rest of the Saw movies after part 1…with a strange added preaching on Obamacare (??) I guess Jigsaw is voting for it. The plot was actually a bit more coherent than the past few. Maybe good on Halloween next year if you can get it free.

State of Play- Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck  – * * * out of four

Didn’t do much at the movie theater, but it was pretty good political thriller actually. Fast moving, lots of plot twists, and didn’t fall into some of the outlandish traps that many movies of its type do. Don’t worry, Ben Affleck’s role is pretty minimal on screen.

I Love You Man – * * stars out of four

If you saw the preview, you saw the good stuff. Gets too crude and doesn’t really develop the story much. Bromance is the topic.

Crank 2 High Voltage – * 1/2 stars out of four

Seeing the first one of these would have helped. Helped me decide not to watch the second one probably. It has some decent action, but it’s about a guy with a battery charger that has replaced his heart and a lot of Japanese mobsters chasing him and yelling. And that’s not even the spazy part. Probably would be liked by comic book patrons or anime fans. Not so much me, and I like the actor in the main part normally.
